We will use "scrap" metal to cut and fashion a statement ring. This class is an introduction to a few metalsmith techniques. Each student will leave class with at least one ring and the skill and technique to create more rings using tools they likely already own. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆. About your instructor: 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 has always been an artist, but made a detour to study computer science and physics. You can see a nod to those disciplines in her silversmith work which plays on suspension and negative space. She spent many years in Wisconsin developing software for the Wisconsin DNR prior to moving with her husband to Ely in 2004. Since moving to Ely, Sharee has made her way back to art by exploring many mediums – painting, silversmithing, sewing, and cooking. She studied silversmithing under a master silversmith in Taos, New Mexico and has won best of show awards for the quality and unique design of her work. She enjoys teaching others how to be creative with sewing – she recycles and upcycles clothes and textiles into interesting pieces of clothing or accessories. She loves to watch students learn new skills and guides them in interpreting the assignments in their own way. In Sharee's free time she enjoys cooking, foraging, fishing, camping, and reading.
