Three performances of Ambient Modern Classical music featuring works by New Orleans composer Daniel Amedee from his new album "The Art of Listening." The seven piece chamber ensemble will consist of Zach Sprowls on piano, Leah and Juliet Valenches (of the Valenches String Quarter) on violin, Peter Brubaker (of the Valenches String Quartet and NEPA Philharmonic) on cello, and Daniel Amedee on chimes and conducting. Two more players are to be announced.
Daniel's professional career began in 2008 when he moved to Cork City, Ireland and became the bass player for an Indie Rock band called Remma. The band was signed for a time to Morrissey’s Attack label and had an EP produced by Noel Hogan of The Cranberries.
In 2011, he moved back home to New Orleans and began his solo career. He released 4 albums under his own name and toured full time from 2012 to 2019, performing in 48 States and 6 Canadian Provinces.
In 2018, Daniel and his good friend and playwright, Conor Kelly O'Brien, began working together on a musical called STATIC. He and Conor toured this musical together in 2018 and 2019, performing at the Orlando Fringe Festival, Off-Broadway at 59E59, and a full run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
When the pandemic hit, this put an end to touring and performing but allowed Daniel the time to write without any outside pressure. He built a 4 octave set of copper pipe chimes and spent the last five years slowly composing the music he heard within.
Even with over 15 years of experience as a writer and performer, the debut of this new material leaves Daniel both excited and profoundly nervous.
"The Art of Listening" can be heard at www.danielamedee.com or danielamedee.bandcamp.com.
