Scouting for Food takes place on two consecutive weekends. On the first weekend, Scouts will distribute door hangers to let their neighbors know about the drive. On the second, Scouts revisit those houses to pick up bags full of canned food, cereal, and other nonperishable items.

Many of our units in Chinquapin partner with Mission Lexington, however, feel free to partner with any local food pantry. It's not important who you partner with, it's important that our communities get the assistance that is needed. In Lexington 9% of children have DAILY food insecurity and in Saluda County the number is 15% ! This is why this event is so vital to our community.
Last year we were able to pick up over a ton (2,000) pounds of food. Which isn't nearly enough, but helps substantially! Please come to roundtable for the most up to date information on acquiring the door hangers as well as letting us know where you all will be picking up at.
