The Scottish Stained Glass Trust will hold its September Symposium at St John’s Kirk, a church with a remarkable collection of 20th-century stained glass.This year marks the 150th anniversaries of artists Douglas Strachan and Margaret Chilton, whose work can be seen here alongside windows by Hendrie, Wilson, Goudie, Adam, Ballantine, Meikle, Guthrie & Wells, Meredith Williams, Marjory Kemp, and Salvin.
Programme highlights:
Talk by Trustee Rona Moody (background to the windows and artists) and Chair Sue Bradbury (technical aspects of the glass)
Walk around the church to study the windows (bring binoculars if you wish)
Lunch and informal discussion beneath Strachan’s East Window 🍴
Sandwich lunch with cake & fruit available for £10 (please pre-book and advise dietary requirements).
Schedule:
10:30 – Arrival, tea/coffee and biscuits
11:00 – Welcome by Susan Bradbury
11:05 – Short SSGT update + talks, followed by tour of the windows
13:00 – Lunch and discussion
