On the first and third Wednesdays of each month we meet from 20.00 until 21.30 in the Hall at Oakwood Church – (except for August and occasionally cancellations when it’s too close to Easter, Christmas or New Year).
On the third Wednesday in January we often celebrate Burns Night with dancing followed by a traditional supper served at 21.00.
We dance both Strathspeys (slow) and Jigs (faster) but have the technical capability to play the music at our own pace. You won’t need to be very fit to join in.
We are very much a group which supports beginners. All dances are walked through before we dance so there’s no need to remember them from session to session. Our focus is very much on fun, friendship and laughter, not proficiency.
It’s never too late to learn. Absolute beginners are always made very welcome. No skills, costume or equipment are needed. Just wear casual clothes and flat comfortable shoes.
It’s a drop-in. Each time you attend we ask for a donation of £2 towards the cost of room hire and heating. At the end of the evening we enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits which are provided free of charge.
We look forward to enjoying the pleasure of your company. Just come along and try – what have you got to lose?
