About this Event

Sniffer is delighted to announce that the annual Scottish Flood Resilience Conference, will be held at Dynamic Earth on 28 and 29 January 2025. The theme this year is Taking actions to implement the Flood Resilience Strategy.

Scotland’s climate has already changed and will continue to do so. Increasing rainfall intensity, storm severity and rising sea levels mean it will not be possible to protect all communities from every flood that we experience. Scotland must become more resilient to flooding to help communities, organisations and places thrive in the changing climate. This will require a paradigm shift in how we deal with floods, building resilience at all scales from individual properties right up to catchment scale. It will require engagement of a broad range of delivery partners with communities at the heart of the process. And it will require more innovative and diverse flood management actions.

Join us at the 2025 Scottish Flood Resilience Conference, when Scotland’s first Flood Resilience Strategy will have been published. Get involved in exploring the ways the whole flood resilience community can take action to implement the Strategy’s intentions. We have a mix of plenary presentations, breakout sessions, panel discussions and Q&As, with something to appeal to all audiences.

Programme

A draft programme for the Conference is available on Sniffer’s website. The final programme will be available in December 2024.

Who should attend?

Delivering the Strategy will involve close collaboration between policy makers, flood practitioners, third sector, communities and all of those involved in managing and designing Scotland’s places and the infrastructure and land upon which we rely. Delegates from local councils, developers, government agencies, consultancies, NGOs, researchers, and communities are warmly encouraged to attend.

Tickets

The conference is often oversubscribed, so please register quickly to avoid disappointment. Ticket sales close on 10 January 2025. We want to make sure the diverse voices of the Flood Resilience community are represented, so we kindly ask you to try to limit the number of in-person delegates per organisation to 4 or less.

This year, we have been able to allocate one free ticket to each Local Authority in Scotland, to assist with attendance. Please check with colleagues before booking one of these tickets, as any second booking from a Local Authority will be cancelled.

Registration closes 10 January 2025

For queries about conference organisation including tickets, logistics and catering please contact our event manager partner Red Harbour Events: [email protected]

For queries about conference content and programme, please contact Sniffer [email protected]

Online delegates

Attendance online is free. Presentations and the plenary sessions will be live streamed; however, not all workshop sessions and breakouts will be available as hybrid. These will be highlighted in the final programme.

In person delegates

There is a modest fee to attend the conference to help offset rising catering and hosting costs. Please note that those chairing and speaking at the event are entitled to a concessionary ticket. A limited number of free tickets are available for individuals at an early stage in their career, community representatives or from third sector organisations for whom cost could be a barrier to attendance. If you have any questions about eligibility for free tickets, please contact [email protected]
