The 2024 conference focuses improving EIA practice so it better delivers for Scotland, with 120+ attendees sharing and gaining knowledge.
About this Event

Scotland’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Conference returns for its 2024 edition on Thursday 3rd October with this year's theme focusing attention on how professional practice can ensure EIA delivers greater success for Scotland.

This face to face event is being held on Thursday the 3rd October at its regular venue - The Edinburgh Training and Conference Centre.

The 120+ conference will hear presentations from leaders in the field exploring progress on the proportionate EIA elements of the Onshore Wind Sector Deal, we'll be mythbusting around legal challenge risk, refreshing on how best to approach climate change, and discussing how EIA helps design and the role it is playing in tackling Scotland's Grid Challenge. The day will include plenary and breakout sessions to engage delegates in debate on how we can get the most out of EIA as a decision-support tool and where we made need to adapt our approaches to improve performance.

The conference remains free to attend for those involved in professional EIA practice, but registration is required. The team behind the conference is led by Fothergill Training & Consulting Ltd in partnership with the Scottish Government, HES, NatureScot and SEPA.

On the Day - The conference includes opportunities for networking during its morning coffee break, buffet lunch and afternoon tea break.

- Briefing on considering Climate Change in Scottish EIA and Planning

- Exploring how wider EIA practice can learn from the OWSD
