Scorching Bay is on Wellington’s south coast. It’s a twenty-minute drive from the city, and there are buses. With a large grass verge, soft sand, it is mostly sheltered from the wind, there are public toilets and a cafe right on its doorstep, it's a good place to spend an afternoon by the sea. Wear steampunk/ victorian swimwear, or similar summerwear, protect yourself from the sun with parasols and big hats or knotted hankerchiefs and be prepared to paddle in the sea and enjoy ourselves.
