Scoop Waukegan is Waukegan's Hot Rod Holiday, a beloved tradition that has been ingrained in the heart of Waukegan for decades! Featuring an incredible variety of classic cars, hot rods, lowriders, and custom vehicles, Scoop brings excitement to downtown Waukegan with live entertainment, food and drink specials from local merchants, and a wide selection of food vendors.This year’s Scoop will kick off with Open Scoop on Friday, July 11th, and Saturday, July 12th, starting at 5 PM. Open Scoop is limited to the first 1,000 classic cars, with check-in available at Grand & County or Water & Sheridan. No registration fee is required, but rules of the road apply at all times—no burnouts, no reckless driving, and absolutely no drinking and driving. All decisions of the Scoop Marshals are final.
Scoop Cruise In & Park happens on Saturday, July 12th, with check-in from 11 AM to 1 PM at Water & Sheridan. Judging takes place between 1 PM and 3 PM, followed by the awards ceremony from 3 PM to 5 PM. Special awards and trophy categories include classics like “Original Scooper,” “Mayor’s Choice,” “Bridge Bum Pick,” “Best Lowrider,” and the “Dick Brean Award.”
