AAOPM Sclerotherapy Training Course
The AAOPM offers a Sclerotherapy Training course designed for nurses and physicians to expand their practice by adding this in-demand, minimally invasive procedure. With improved techniques and new, safer sclerosing agents, sclerotherapy has become a popular choice for treating unsightly venous diseases, which affect over 80 million Americans—75% of which are cosmetic in nature. By completing our training, you will gain the skills to effectively and safely treat these conditions.
Modern sclerotherapy methods are known for being safe, effective, and minimally uncomfortable for patients. This technique uses small amounts of detergent solutions to irritate the vein walls, ultimately closing unwanted veins. Cosmetic laser centers and vein clinics favor these procedures for their simplicity, profitability, and impressive results using both laser vein therapies and FDA-approved detergent sclerosants.

Prerequisite Sclerotherapy Training
Upon registering for a workshop, you will receive confirmation and access to all prerequisite and preparatory course materials via AAOPM's advanced educational portal. This portal includes essential resources for your practice, such as treatment forms, consent forms, patient intake forms, and before/after photos.
Prerequisite Coursework
Participants must complete the prerequisite coursework, including videos, lecture presentations, and a didactic full-color manual, before attending the live patient hands-on training. For added convenience, our EMPIRE-VIRTUAL-TRAINING™ platform allows you to watch required "live" presentations on your mobile device, with opportunities for participant engagement through an online chat option. Each virtual session includes dedicated time for Q&A.
Live Patient Hands-On Training
The live patient hands-on training is an integral part of the course, offered through live workshops, Centers of Excellence, and custom preceptorships. This training, conducted in the afternoon, focuses on perfecting injection techniques on live patients, ensuring that you are comfortable performing these procedures in your practice.
