About this Event
SciFest is back for 2024!
SciFest is an annual festival held at the University of Wolverhampton with the aim of increasing aspiration through fun interactive means in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM). Since 2012, we have provided school learners and the wider community with the largest science and engineering festival at any university in the West Midlands outside the British Science Festival. SciFest brings together external partners from business, professional organizations, museums, engagement practitioners and staff from a variety of University Facilities to organize and deliver two days of immersive informal engagement in all aspects of STEM, health careers and the arts. This STEM festival encourages the exploration and discovery of learning and careers through activity and consists of numerous drop-in activities housed in the courtyard discovery area and bookable activities in rooms around the University of Wolverhampton City Campus.
Friday 28th June 2024 is a day exclusively aimed at Secondary School, College and Home Educated students between the ages of 13 and 19 years old. They will have the opportunity to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) as they have never seen before. There will be drop-in activities within the Courtyard and pre-bookable workshops and shows located within the University at City Campus.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Whilst this is a free event, pre-booked tickets are required due to having a maximum capacity. If you do not have tickets you will not be able to gain entry into the event.
- To attend this event you must be either a Secondary School, College and Home Educated student between the ages of 13 and 19. If you book for this event and you are not part of this programme your booking will be cancelled.
- You will only be able to book workshops and shows once you have booked your general admission tickets as these are mandatory to attend the festival. Please follow the instructions in your order confirmation email to book these.
- The target audience of the event is students aged between 13 and 19 years old, however, we understand that Home Educating families may have students younger than this or students working at differing educational levels that are welcome to attend. However, please be aware that the activities which will be provided (both the drop-in and bookable) will be targeted/delivered in a manner which is suitable for students aged between 13 and 19 years old. Therefore some of these may not be suitable or accessible for younger children but there should still be plenty of opportunities and activities for everyone to get involved.
- When making your booking, remember to book a ticket for each student and teacher/support staff/guardian attending. For example, if you have 10 students and 2 members of staff, you must book 12 tickets. This is both for general admission tickets and bookable shows/workshops.
- Students must be accompanied by teachers/support staff/guardians at all times during the festival, this includes in the bookable workshops and shows, so please ensure the correct number of tickets are booked as the sessions have a limited capacity. If the incorrect number of tickets is booked, or students are not accompanied by an appropriate adult, sadly, entry to the show/workshop will be refused.
- Both coaches and minibuses will be able to stop at the allocated drop-off zones. Further information on coach parking can be found here - https://www.ctttravel.co.uk/Faulkland.
