About this Event

His Excellency Ambassador Ferenc Kumin and the Hungarian Scientists’ Network (HSN) cordially invites you to the spring science and networking event of HSN.

The special guest of the evening, Professor Előd TAKÁTS rector (vice-chancellor) of Corvinus University, will give a presentation titled

’Emerging Europe's chronic distrust: Lessons from the region's COVID puzzle?’

The presentation is based on Professor Takáts’ recent publication (co-edited by professor Piroska Nagy-Mohácsi of the London School of Economics). Emerging Europe's chronic distrust uses the lessons learned from the CEE region’s perplexing response to the COVID pandemic to shed light onto the driving forces and the social forces rooted in history that define the complex attitude of the regions’ societies to current issues like the Ukrainian-Russian war or refugees from the Middle East.

The presentation will be followed by an expert discussion and a reception.
