Science Unwrapped, the public STEM outreach program of USU's College of Science, invites inquiring of minds of all ages to participate in science learning fun. Admission is free. Each event begins with a brief science talk following by hands-on learning activities and refreshments.Our Spring 2025 theme is "Celebrate Undergrad Research" in recognition of USU's 2025 "Year of Undergraduate Research."
Friday, March 21, 2025 Speakers: Biological engineer Elizabeth Vargis pursues study of Raman spectroscopy, muscular atrophy and subretinal tissue research. Vargis and undergraduate scholar Sophia Hessami are developing in vitro models of retinal pigment epithelial cells to better understand disease, test new treatments and build computer simulations to understand the role of growth factors. In the process, Hessami is developing skills and experience she plans to apply to graduate study in biological engineering.
Parking is available in the university parking terraces at 700 East 600 North, and 850 East 700 North in Logan. Parking is FREE for Science Unwrapped guests.
