The virus that saved me - on the positive side of viruses
About this Event

After the COVID-19 pandemic we are all aware of the damage viruses can cause people and entire societies. But are all viruses necessarily the enemies of humanity?

Dr. Inna will speak about the positive aspects of viruses in our lives:

The use of viruses in scientific research as tools to understand how our own cells work, viruses in advanced medical treatments, and how some viruses are actually a part of us.

About the speaker:

Inna Ricardo-Lax did her Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel and currently is a virologist at Rockefeller University studying how viruses interact with our own cells.

During COVID she constructed a non-infectious version of SARS-CoV2 to use as a safe research tool in the lab. Currently, Inna is studying how different viruses interact with their host cells.
