About this Event
Science in the City is back and will be taking over the streets of Valletta around the Triton Fountain on 27-28 September from 6–11 pm. J.E.D.I. is this year’s festival theme, which stands for ‘Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion’. For us, investing in J.E.D.I. improves the quality of research and of the festival, as we seek to emotionally engage and empower you.
This year’s festival activities include interacting with humanoid robots from the University of Malta Cottonera Resource Centre, using 3D modeling to understand the role of microbes in the intestine with The BioArte Limited, virtually exploring shipwrecks, plane wrecks and other underwater locations around Malta thanks to Heritage Malta, and so much more!
Take a break from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the benefits of nature at The Green Hub by Piscopo Gardens. Step into the VARCITIES urban living room to explore nature-based solutions using AR/VR technology, get trained and save lives with the Malta Resuscitation Council, and join the La Roche-Posay +M EXPERIENCE to embark on a transformative journey towards achieving your clearest skin yet! We even invited Spanish artist Pep Walls who created a unique interactive experience with local researcher and neuroscientist, Dr Claude Bajada, to creatively explore your brain.
With over 80 organisations and researchers participating in this year’s event, we cannot mention them all here. But rest assured, there are plenty of opportunities to meet researchers, have a chat, play and learn around Triton Fountain surrounded by the wonderful world of science and arts. Suitable for all ages!
Attending is simple, just be at Triton Fountain on the 27-28th Sept from 6-11 pm. This ticketing system is for survey and evaluation purposes. If you fill in our pre- and post- survey you will be entered into a €50 draw. You don't have to print your ticket for Street festival attendance (tickets are only needed for performances and workshops).
