In this program about fantastic fungi, learn about the different ecologies of mushrooms in Florida and the species diversity we have with Scott Ostuni, DNA sequence validator with the Fungal Diversity Survey.
Scott is a self-taught mycologist and mushroom photographer who focuses on fungal taxonomy specifically in the southeast United States. He specializes in fungal identification based on DNA sequence data as well as more traditional methods of identification. Some of his accolades include discovering a new species of psilocybin containing mushroom Psilocybe niveotropicalis as well as increasing our understanding of the distribution of various species of fungi in the state of Florida through his work with the Fungal Diversity Survey.
