The British Society for the History of Science, Centre for History & Philosophy of Science, and School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science (PRHS) are delighted to present Professor Topham's inaugural professorial lecture.
Join us for an event featuring fascinating insights into the interconnections between science and religion and to celebrate Professor Topham's career and contributions to our understanding of the intertwined histories of science, religion, and publishing.
Professor Topham joined the University of Leeds in 1999 following a series of postdoctoral positions at the University of Cambridge, where he also undertook his undergraduate study, and a PhD at the University of Lancaster. His research focuses on the cultural history of science in late Georgian Britain, especially the history of the book, and on science and religion in Regency and Victorian society, particularly in regard to natural theology and theologies of nature. His 2022 book, , was published by the University of Chicago Press and received the 2023 academic book prize of the International Society for Science and Religion.
The event also serves as the keynote lecture of the annual Postgraduate Conference of the British Society for the History of Science, hosted at the University of Leeds.
