Join us for a fascinating talk Celebrating Asian Heritage Month with Mike Chen, New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Brotherhood & Andrea Stewart, Sunday Times Bestselling Author of The Bone Shard Daughter, to talk about sci-fiction and fantasy writing from the perspective of being Asian-American children of immigrants.


Mike Chen is the author of Star Wars: Brotherhood, Here and Now and Then, A Quantum Love Story, and other novels, as well as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine comics. He has covered geek culture for sites such as Nerdist and The Mary Sue, and in a different life, he's covered the National Hockey League. A member of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association, Mike lives in the Bay Area with his wife, daughter, and many rescue animals.


Andrea Stewart is a Sunday Times Bestselling author whose short stories can be found in such venues as Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Daily Science Fiction, Galaxy’s Edge, and others. Her debut epic fantasy novel, The Bone Shard Daughter, was a finalist for the Locus Award for Best First Novel, the British Fantasy Award for Best Novel, the Goodreads Choice Award for Fantasy and Debut Novel, and the BookNest Award for Best Traditionally Published Novel. Andrea lives in Northern California and in addition to writing, can be found herding cats, looking at birds, and falling down research rabbit holes.
