Yukon Early Music presents SCHUBERTIADE – an evening celebrating the songs of Franz Schubert.
Tuesday, January 20, 7:30pm
Whitehorse United Church
Tickets by donation (online or at the door)
Schubert (1797-1828) was a truly prolific composer of songs (“lieder”). He composed over 600 songs in his short life. Many of the songs were composed for tenor and forte piano (a pre-cursor to our modern piano). Tenors Vincent Larochelle and C.D. Saint will be performing with Benjamin Johnston-Urey on piano. They will also be joined by Toby Moisey, who with Ben Johnston-Urey will perform the only piece Schubert wrote for flute and piano (which just happens to be based on a song he wrote for a tenor).
This concert is raising funds to support the Yukon’s first baroque music festival, Bachfest, coming February 13-15, 2026.
