Reading Borough Council, in collaboration with Design Nature, Stantec and the University of Reading, are excited to offer schools across Reading the opportunity to participate in the CALM – Exploring Reading Air Quality programme.
On Clean Air Day, we invite you and your students to explore, map and measure air quality together across the day, and then develop an action plan to improve it.
This is a design-led, action planning workshop, which will cover parts of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and Geography curricula.
We would be happy to welcome a group of 6-12 KS3 students who will be:
- Introduced to the CALM programme
- Introduced to air quality and air pollution issues to help raise awareness and curiosity
- Encouraged to work as a group to explore air quality in and around your school location in Reading
- Enabled with technology to undertake an outdoor air quality mapping and measurement exercise
- Supported in the evaluation of the air quality data that has been gathered in the outdoor exercise
- Supported with the creation and development of an action plan to help improve air quality for the school and wider Reading communities
- Encouraged to present the ideas and share with others.
