‘Conjunction Junction …What’s Your Function’?HARMONY THEATER To Address These Grammatical Questions and More in Production Of ‘SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE!, Jr.’
Harmony Theater is preparing to hit the books when a pop culture phenomenon erupts onto the Al Hibbert Memorial stage in "Schoolhouse Rock Live!, Jr." Many of us remember the Emmy Award-winning three-minute Saturday morning cartoon series that taught us how to unpack our adjectives, memorize the Preamble to the Constitution, and discover that “knowledge is power!” as we gazed over our bowl full of breakfast cereal.
These episodes covered grammar, history, science, social studies, and math through fun, clever and tuneful songs that helped the series become a pop culture phenomenon back in the 1970’s and recently made a small-screen comeback with its 50th Anniversary Sing-Along special hosted by Ryan Seacrest. Harmony Theater will bring that same spirit of fellowship, excitement, and curiosity as they explore school subjects in a whole new way while doing so.
A nervous schoolteacher about to take the front of the classroom on their first day of teaching, tries to relax by watching TV. Suddenly, the "Schoolhouse Rock" songs jump off the TV screen and proceed to present how to win the students over with imagination and music. The beloved tunes include "A Noun Is a Person, Place, or Thing," "Three Is a Magic Number," and "Unpack Your Adjectives."
We think the actors will deserve a standing ovation from the community for all their work. So come cheer on Harmony Theater as they present "Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr." on Friday May 17th at 7:00 p.m. and Sat. May 18th, Sun. May. 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Messiah Fellowship Hall at 1001 Dekalb Pike Gwynedd, PA 19002. Tickets are $12.00 (pre-sale) and $15.00 (at the door).
All of the seating is general admission on a first come first served basis and doors open a half an hour before the performance curtain.
Look for additional fund raisers such as baked goods, raffle baskets, merchandise created by our actors and friends of the organization, 50-50 chances, and other surprises.
All proceeds benefit Harmony Theatre which has been enriching the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities through performing arts since 1994. Specifically, this program offers an opportunity for the participants to express themselves through various mediums of song, dance and artistic expression.
