THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT For schools and students: In partnership with the Cherokee Nation, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum presents a Cherokee Cultural Celebration.
Students will experience activities connected with 19th Century Cherokee culture and lifestyle, including hands-on participation in Cherokee games like stickball, marbles and graces.
Demonstrations in pottery making, basket weaving, and blowguns will show the unique Cherokee lifestyle of this time. Other activity stations will introduce kids to the Cherokee language and storytellers sharing Cherokee lore.
Our museum galleries will be open for self-directed tours. Students are encouraged to visit all stations to earn a prize for their participation! This event is suitable for grades K—8.
Admission is free for students and chaperones (one for every seven students). Space provided to eat lunch. The event will be held rain or shine. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by September 20.
