About this Event

Drawing partly on my own experiences in scholar-activism, I hope to open up space for conversation about the necessity and urgency of activism within the academy. We will look at past and contemporary efforts to restrict (and police) transformative free expression in the service of liberation, and at the relationship of these efforts to what Ignacio Sanchez Prado has recently and trenchantly described as "democratic backsliding in the university, which in turn feeds a persistent anti-intellectualism often disguised as inclusivity."
