SCAFELL SUMMER SOLSTICE CHALLENGE 2025
Following great success last year, join us on this bucket list challenge as we not only take on the highest peak in England but we also cover it from the most interesting and rewarding route from Old Dungeon Ghyll in Langdale Valley.
We first ascend Pike o'Blisco, no mean feat in itself, to gain much of our height for the day. From there we begin to take in breathtaking views of Landgale Valley as we head across to the multiple peaks of Crinkle Crags and begin to see the full extent of our day's route ahead. Bowfell is our next major waypoint with Esk Pike beyond.
After crossing Broad Crag we head up a simple scfamble to summit the might Scafell Pike! We will pause for photos, views and refreshments before heading on the stunning downward journey home where the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel awaits for drinks and to share stories of the day.

There is very little technical terrain and the little there is is very simple. Your guides are on hand for safety, tips and advice and there is nothng that is not achiveable at beginner level. This is a challenging hike in a remote mountainous environment. A good level of fitness is required. Groups are encouraged to stick together and there are no medals for finishing first.

Parking: There is ample parking at the public carpark outside the hotel.

Duration: 10hrs (approx)
Your guides will be at the official start point (National Trust Carpark) for your arrival from 07:30. We aim to all meet at 07:45 for a prompt 08:00 departure.
ESSENTIALS
You MUST have the following in order to take part:
A good pair of walking boots or trail shoes.
(Trainers are not suitable for mountain hiking.)
A waterproof jacket and a warm layer.
(Even when the weather seems good, the mountains can change quickly.)
Drinks to last the day, lunch and snacks.
Filled in our PARQ Form and have it acknowledged by one of our team.
