October 14th SBCBA meeting - HMS AP meeting details to be presented Tuesday, October 14th, 2025 at 7pm at the Cask N’ Flagon!At our upcoming October 14th meeting Mike Pierdinock and Patrick Kearney will provide the details of the recent HMS AP meeting and the status of our bluefin tuna fishery and hope for more US bluefin tuna quota at the upcoming ICCAT annual meeting in Seville Spain in November. There are three upcoming public hearings concerning striped bass, in person 9/25 (North Shore) and 9/30 (South Shore) and via webinar 9/29 as detailed below. Note you need to preregister for the 9/30 webinar. A 12% reduction is proposed, details are at the MassDMF Draft Addendum III. Go to the SBCBA meeting announcement below for the link and details.
The main options that impact us are proposed changes to the 1 fish slot limit that include seasonal closures that include separate bag limits for the for hire fleet. The SBCBA is still evaluating what option(s) will ultimately be selected. Please get back to us with your questions, comments and recommendations.
