Prompt Party Writing Challenge (All Day, Guided: 1.00-3.00pm)

Immerse yourself in a day of creativity and inspiration at 'Prompt Party Writing Challenge’ led by Crispin Rodrigues!


Choose between poetry or short fiction and select from three levels of difficulty, each offering a different number of prompts to challenge your writing skills.


Join us as an individual or with a group at any time during the day. Our expert facilitator will be available from 1.00 – 3.00 pm to provide guidance and support. Even outside of this time, you'll have access to a wide array of objects and prompts to keep your inspiration flowing.


Don't forget to add your personal touch by decorating your finished pieces using the materials provided, creating cherished keepsakes to take home.

Free Programmes (with Registration) Blk O, Multi-Purpose Studio:
Paws, Claws and Expressions: Discovering Animal Idioms Across Cultures (10.00-10.45am)

With the guidance of facilitator Cassia Leong, participants will discover the origins of animal-related idioms and similes, how different cultures play a role in why different animals are utilised in different languages. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on the cultural context behind these expressions, broadening their awareness and appreciation of diverse traditions.


Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities such as clay modelling and fan designing to reinforce and enhance their learning experience.


Stari’s Colourful Adventure: Exploring Colours and Sizes with Preschoolers (11.00-12.00pm)

Join arts educator Liew Jia Yi in this bilingual storytelling session as she reads Stari’s Wonderful World written by Chew Lee Ching. In Stari’s Wonderful World, Baby King and Ottie the otter visited Chek Jawa, Pulau Ubin. They saw many interesting and colourful sea creatures during low tide and met Stari the sea star who showed them around.


Children will embark on a sensory exploration and magical adventure of imagination and learning as they get to touch, feel, and explore various objects related to colours and sizes through hands-on activities.



Facilitator(s)

Crispin Rodrigues is the author of 3 poetry collections, the latest being How Now Blown Crow (2021). He is also co-editor of an anthology of poems by youth poets, Crazy Little Pyromaniacs (2020). He is also a big defender of his hometown of Yishun.

Cassia Leong is the Director of AcesCube Education Services. After graduating with a Bachelor in Civil Engineering, she went on and obtained a PGDE (Post-graduate Diploma in Education) from the National Institute of Education. A strong advocate for life-long learning, Cassia is currently pursuing her second degree in Translation and Interpretation at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.

Jia Yi is an arts educator and performer based in Singapore. In her exploration of Theatre for Young Audience, Jia Yi co-created and performed in “Babies Book Club”, an online interactive play space for babies. She has also performed in plays that involved object puppetry, rod puppetry, life-sized puppets, and mask work.

By MRT: Mountbatten MRT Station (Circle Line) Exit B | Turn left upon exit, follow sheltered walkway (crossing the Mountbatten Road Bridge across the Geylang River) all the way to Goodman Arts Centre. After the gate, turn left, passing Block H towards Block E. Take the first staircase (near the vending machines) up to Level 3. Walk to the end of the corridor to Singapore Book Council Office and Training Room.

By Car: Drop-offs at Carpark A | Visitors' Parking at Carpark B
