Noce is proud to present one of our own, rising star Marvin Truong with his band for one night only. Marvin Truong, saxophonist, composer, educator, celebrated for his rich, soulful sound and respect to the roots and tradition of the music we know as Jazz. Drawing from the roots of the masters such as Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, and Kenny Garrett to name a few, Marvin has carved his own sound in today’s modern day and age of music. Throughout his career, Marvin has shared the bandstand with many artist with likes such as Sharay Reed, Marques Carroll, Greg Artry, Isaiah Spencer, Jerome Gillespie II, Marcos Varela, Jalen Baker, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Benny Green.
In 2023, he had the honor of being selected for the in the International Association of Schools of Jazz Conference in Helsinki, Finland, collaborating and learning from with artists such as Dana Hall, Anders Jormin, Jukkis Uotila, Dave Liebman, and Savannah Harris.
Marvin has played stages across the U.S. at venues like Andy's Jazz Club, Monk's Jazz Club, Emmit's Place, and Fulton Street Collective. He also frequently performs at Noce, sharing the stage with artists like Max Wellman, Paul Lichty, Zane Gedler, and Blake Shaw.
Currently finishing his final semester at the University of Iowa, Marvin contributes much of his success and depth of the music to his mentors and teachers that have taught him such as Damani Phillips, Vincent Herring, William Menefield, Alex Hahn, Marcus Strickland, Curtis Taylor, Marques Carroll, Michael D'Angelo, and Jim Romain.
Marvin has played some of the best rooms in the region, & this will be his first night headlining at Noce with his band consisting of Carson Parker on piano, Jerome Gillespie Jr. on the drums, and Spencer Paulsen on the bass.
