We will meet at the Southern Trail Head of the Great Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake. This will be on the western side of Ballahack Rd and US 17 South, (George Washington Highway). We will walk up to the restored one room schoolhouse, The Cornland School, and also stop at the Canal Keepers house. We will talk a lot about history on this hike and I hope to have a few people to come along that are very knowledgeable about the history of the Chesapeake (Norfolk County) section of the Canal.If you have not hiked with us before, I urge you to come to this one. Further events will no longer be guaranteed.
So lets dress for the weather, and be ready to walk about 2 miles on hard surface as we learn and talk a bit. Questions will be welcome, input will be welcome. All are welcome!
