Make your voice heard! Support the arts in Seminole County! Don't let the arts be defunded by the Seminole County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the five Seminole County Commissioners will vote to accept or reject SCAC’s annual funding contract. This decision will determine whether SCAC can continue operating and providing arts services to the community.
The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will take place at the Seminole County Services Building, 1101 East 1st Street, Sanford, Florida 32771. Each member will be given up to 3 minutes to speak.
Members of the public can speak out in support of the arts, SCAC, and support of the students and teachers of Seminole County Public School District. Sharing accurate information on social media helps raise awareness about what is happening and why it matters.
PLEASE HELP US SAVE THE ARTS FUNDING FOR SEMINOLE COUNTY!
Supporters are encouraged to write emails and letters of support to the Seminole County Commissioners expressing the importance of SCAC and County funding for the arts.
The most impactful action is attending the Board of County Commissioners meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 1101 East 1st Street in Sanford to show public support for SCAC and the arts in Seminole County. The meeting will be held at the County Services Building in downtown Sanford in the county commission chambers on the 1st floor of the County Services Building.
-Please wear green to support the arts.
-If you feel to appropriate, please consider making a sign to hold while seated in the audience. Signs should be colorful but simple. Slogan ideas might include:
Commissioners: fund SCAC & the arts!
BCC: help us Save the Arts!
Seminole County supports the arts & SCAC!
-If you come to the meeting, you do not have to speak to the commission. Simply sitting in the audience is a big help.
-If you plan to speak at the meeting, you must fill out a public speaker request form (available in the BCC chambers lobby). You will be required to give your name and address for the public record. Each citizen gets no more than three minutes to speak. Please DO NOT go over your time limit. We ask that you remain polite, considerate, brief, and to the point. Stay on target. Our target message: "We support the arts and we support SCAC."
-If you do speak at the meeting, please do NOT repeat what other speakers have said before you. Consider submitting your comments in writing if many others have spoken before you.
-At all times, remain civil, remain polite, be kind. Do not threaten. Do not focus on negative things. Stay positive and upbeat!
-Remember: this meeting will be televised on SGTV (available on Spectrum). It is also available for people to watch on Youtube. There is no virtual attendance (Zoom) option.
