Savannah: Join the Peaceful Gathering for Horses at City Council Meeting
Advertisement
Please join Ban Horse Carriages Savannah and local PETA supporters on Thursday, August 14, when Savannah City Council will vote on whether to decrease the maximum temperature in which horses are forced to pull carriages. Horses forced to pull carriages in up to 95 degree weather face serious health and well-being concerns.
We will gather peacefully at Johnson Square prior to the meeting before going into City Hall together to provide public comment on the conditions of the horses, and urge council members to vote for the only humane and science-backed option on the table, which is the 85 degree cap! It’s also a great time to meet with everyone and celebrate this momentous day!
Your voice is crucial!
Here are the details:
When: Thursday, August 14, 10AM
Where: Johnson Square, 2 E Bryan St, Savannah, GA 31401 (please see this map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9xFPrNQjBnHmREaR6)
Contact: Amanda Brody at [email protected] and Robyn with Ban Horse Carriages Savannah at [email protected]
A vegan lunch will be provided at the rally. All materials, such as posters and leaflets, will also be provided. Please dress sharply in nice pants and close-toed shoes. We must ensure that the focus remains on the animals without any distractions that could shift people’s attention.
A shirt for the gathering and city council meeting will be handed out. If you have something orange to wear, please bring that.
In the days prior to the event, please also send an email to all council members urging them to vote for the 85 degree cap, whether you can attend the meeting or not. You can copy the emails below:

Please refrain from bringing dogs, as there might not be a comfortable place for them to lie down during the protest.
Outreach events are a fun and effective way to help animals and meet local advocates, so be sure to invite others!
