The Office of Disability Resources welcomes our first year students to our Bee Ready 2 Buzz and Jump Start Summer programs!
About this Event

Bee Ready 2 Buzz and Jump Start are designed to help you ease into college life. Students will learn about services and resources available to them along with strategies that will prepare you to succeed at SCAD and beyond. Jump Start Orientation complements the main SCAD orientation.


Bee Ready 2 Buzz will consist of 5 virtual workshops:

Wednesday, July 13th 1:00 pm - Welcome to BEE Ready 2 Buzz

Wednesday, July 20th 1:00 pm - BEE a Professional Student

Wednesday, July 27th 1:00 pm - BEE Supported

Wednesday, August 3rd 1:00 pm - BEE Tech Smart

Wednesday, August 10th 1:00 pm - BEE Ready to BEE


Workshop benefits:

  • Learn about resources and supports at SCAD to make your transition to college successful
  • Learn tips and tricks of being a professional student
  • Learn how to be more tech savvy
  • Learn about Disability Resources, meet the staff and connect with other incoming students.

What is the cost? What is included?

  • Bee Ready to Buzz is a series of FREE virtual workshops open to students on all campuses who will be receiving ADA accommodations through The Office of Disability Resources. Recordings of each workshop will be available to registered students.

Jump Start

September 6th to September 8th (SCAD Savannah Campus)

Jump Start is an on-ground program open to incoming Savannah Campus students connected with The Office of Disability Resources.

Jump Start Benefits:

  • Meet other new first year students
  • Meet the Office of Disability Resources and the Office of Counseling staff
  • Learn about resources and supports on campus
  • Learn strategies to becoming a successful student
  • Meet other SCAD faculty and staff
  • Take a of tour of some of the Foundation classroom buildings
  • Learn about SCAD Fit

Wat is the cost? What is included?

Jump Start is $525 per student which includes:

  • Meals and 2 evening dinner events
  • Overnight accommodations starting Tuesday, September 6th
  • Educational programing, social gatherings, campus tour, and orientation
  • Student poolside party
  • Silent Disco Pizza party
  • SCAD Serve Volunteer community project

Are family members welcome?

We welcome families on Day 1 to join your student for programming. Tickets for the Parent/Guardian Meet and Greet Dinner are available on Tuesday evening. Students will be attending a separate event at this time. Tickets are $30 per person for family members.


What is the schedule of events?

The Office of Disability Resources will send out a full schedule to all registered families closer to the start of Jump Start.


What time can I move in?

Move in will be from 9:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 6th.


Is transportation included for students?

Most of our events will take place within walking distance of the Hive. Transportation will be provided to other locations and residence halls. Please contact us at [email protected] with any mobility needs.


Where can I complete the Pool waiver:

Our student participants will be enjoying a pool party on Tuesday night. Please see the link below for our waiver.

Where do I sign up for SCAD Serve:

SCAD Serve is our volunteer network that brings together the SCAD community to improve the quality of life for our neighbors in Savannah. We will be participating in a volunteer project with SCAD Serve on Thursday September 8th. Please use the link below to sign up for this event.

Registration ends August 22nd.

Registration is first-come, first-serve. Once each session is full, students can be added to a waiting list in case of cancellations, but we cannot guarantee switches and encourage you to register early.
