SAVAGE is an exploration of power, myth and identity. The violence of forgetting. Forgetting history, story and not reconciling past injustices.Daniel Riley’s first major work for Australian Dance Theatre is SAVAGE. A symbolic collection of ideas shaped into an urgent piece of dance theatre.
SAVAGE explores our fundamental belief systems, our blind obedience and our belief in the truths and lies that have captured our imaginations, never really questioning what is underneath, below or hidden.
Working with leading dramaturg Kate Champion, artist Dean Cross (Worimi), lighting designer Matthew Adey and composer James Howard (Jaadwa), SAVAGE will have its world premiere on Kaurna Country before touring to Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country.
