The primary series is a foundational practice which provides the basis for the other five ashtanga vinyasa sequences whereas you are led in a precise sequence of postures, linked together with vinyasa sequences combined with breathwork.
It is used as the daily yoga practice for many yogis who practice Ashtanga yoga - this is the sequence of yoga as was taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India.
