About this Event
10:00 - Karen Kavanagh (SFU) - Sharper Images with Electrons - Better than Light!
11:10 - Thomas Jennewein (SFU) - Quantum Communication in Space
Abstract for Kavanagh's lecture:
Like optical holography, when an electron wave that has passed through
vacuum is compared with the same wave that has passed through a solid,
they develop a phase difference. This phase shift is correlated with electric potentials
inside matter and electronic devices. We use electron holography to
map internal electric potentials in nanoscale diodes.
Abstract for Jennewein's lecture:
A future global quantum internet requires long distance quantum links via space, in order to overcome the distance limits of ground based fiber optic links. The quantum internet can be used for secure communications and networking with quantum computers.
