About this Event
Come along to Moruya Library for our monthly Saturday Matinee Movie.
Staring Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorrie, and directed by John Huston, this film tells the story of San Francisco private detective Sam Spade and three villains as they hunt for a jewel encrusted statue. This Warner Bros. release is regarded as one of the most influential films ever made and deals with issues of greed, deceit, obsession and lust in a highly sophisticated manner.
Today, more than 70 years after its first release, the film is universally praised. Highlights of this well-loved film are many, including its stellar cast, exciting dialogue, and use of cinematography. The film is regarded as the first major work in the noir style and regarded as one of, if not the greatest detective film ever produced in film history. This special screening at Moruya Library is not to be missed by any film lover.
Enjoy the film, refreshments, and a chat. Due to licensing restrictions we cannot advertise the movie name. Please ask our friendly library staff for more information.
