About this Event
Part of our monthly Saturday improv drop-in workshop series at The Old Hairdressers
The Big Bang - with Ross Foley
You're midway through a scene. Everyone else on stage is cooking. Their characters are bold, complex, and fun. They're getting laughs, you're whiffing hard. All you seem to do is react. You have a sudden, horrible realisation: you have no purpose; you have no impetus; you're a windsock flailing in a brisk wind.
In this workshop, we're going to work on avoiding gut-wrenching moments like this by making strong, character-affirming choices as we enter a scene. We'll focus on beginning with energy and potential. On starting with a dense core of an idea that expands, and becomes more interesting, but ultimately retains elements of a 'big bang' you can always return to.
By the end of this workshop, I'm hoping we'll all feel more confident making 'big bang' moves, and ultimately find ourselves in those horrible "who am I?" moments less often. At least on stage.
Bazinga.
Ross was a member of GIT Harold Team God's Lettuce and regularly makes the trek through to guest perform with Perfect Improv Show and Fucktown.
