
About this Event
Dr William Farr and Florence Nightingale will host a wonderful autumnal evening of celebration in the warm and candlelight setting of St Alkmund’s Church, Shrewsbury. From 18:30 to 19:30 staff, volunteers, and their talented offspring will perform for you in the wonderful setting of the church in the centre of historic Shrewsbury. Share with them the joy of music, song, poetry and laughter whilst drinking a cup of warming soup on comfortable seats. Entrance fee for this is £5 on the door.
Make a whole evening of it by joining us after the Talent Show for a special dinner in the Prince Rupert Hotel. During the two course William Farr Memorial Dinner you will learn more about the legacy of Shropshire's William Farr in the field of public health. Hear how his work and that of his close friend and collaboirator Florence Nightinagle, exposed health inequalities and how is methodology is still used today around the world to improve population health. £40 ticket via Eventbrite includes Dinner, Entrance to Talent Show + Soup in the Church.
During the evening we will also celebrate staff nominated by their peers for the William Farr and Dr John Webster Awards, and announce this years winners. Also, we will learn of work currently being done in our communities to address today's health inequalities.
