ALEX
With almost 15 years of accomplishments in Canadian country music, it’s easy to see why Alex Runions’ hometown of Kipling, Saskatchewan raised a billboard in his honour. After taking his first industry steps with his debut self-titled 2009 album, which was produced by CCMA-winning Bart McKay, Runions broke through in 2013 as Big Dog 92.7 and Astral Media's choice for "The Next Big Thing". Through the rest of the decade, Runions enjoyed a string of charting Canadian country radio singles like "Passenger Seat", “FM Dial”, "Little Bit of Sunshine" and a second album, "South of the City", to go along with the collaboration track, "Just Watch Me"-with Dean Kush and JJ Voss-that served as a cornerstone to a fundraising campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society. Runions was rewarded for his efforts with Saskatchewan Country Music Association Award nominations every year between 2013 and 2019 -winning 2016 honours for Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year award and Male Vocalist of the Year. Runions matched this success on stage, playing at some of the most iconic venues in the country, including Big Valley Jamboree, the Grey Cup, and the CCMA Awards Week Songwriters’ Series. Following his 2019 single, "Heartland" featuring Erin Hill, Runions reunited with McKay for 2020's summer single, “Take It Out On Me”, and hit the Top 50 of Canadian country radio with "Middle of a Country Song" in 2021, which was co-written and co-produced by Chris Burke-Gaffney (Chantel Kreviazuk, MacKenzie Porter). The SCMA recognized him again in 2022 with a nomination for Male Artist of the Year. With the dynamic shift in his personal life towards self-improvement-and most recently fatherhood-Runions has embraced a refined direction that embodies an Americana and singer-songwriter blend that will be brought to life through his next collaboration with Burke-Gaffney-the 2024 album, "Above the Clouds and On the Ground"
