About this Event
Come and join us at St Andrews Museum for our second Sashiko embroidery workshop with artist Andrea McMillan. Immerse yourself in the mindful world of hand-stitching this January.
This embroidery method originates from Japan and was originally used for the decorative and functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing. Historically Sashiko has a distinctive geometric appearance using white embroidery thread on indigo cloth, but now some artists introduce other colours to expand Sashiko's creative potential.
Andrea's workshops form part of our programme connected with Fife Contemporary's Crafted Selves exhibition on at St Andrews Musuem until February 24th 2024.
This workshop is designed for beginners and more experienced craft makers over two sessions, helping you to fully appreciate the artistry behind this craft. Admission is free and all materials will be provided. You are welcome to join us if you have not attended the first workshop.
