About this Event
Displays of Belonging illuminates the work of Polish Jewish museologists, who sought to preserve the treasures of the Jewish past while demonstrating Jewish belonging on Polish soil. It offers a nuanced understanding of the ways Jews in Poland saw their present and dreamed of their future, and sheds light on how ideas about belonging and national identity were negotiated in the space of museums.
Sarah Ellen Zarrow is an Associate Professor of History at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington, where she holds the Endowed Professorship in Jewish History. She has also served as a consultant to archival and museum projects at YIVO and Polin: Museum of the History of Polish Jews, designing exhibits and creating educational programming.
