About the Instructor:
Robert Cura is author of the book, “MASTER BALLROOM DANCE TECHNIQUE.” He has been dancing since he was 15 when he learned the Cha Cha with his mother. He fell in love with dance and embarked on a lifelong study of ballroom dance. Robert studied with top international teachers including Glenn Weiss and Wendi Davies. Robert competed in DanceSport nationally for many years, attaining championship level before becoming injured.
Robert’s experience in technology — as CEO, CTO, technology architect, and advanced systems engineer — gives him a unique perspective on efficiency and the continuous improvement of methodology — skills that he would come to apply in dance training. With his background in teaching and technology, Robert was able to synthesize fast-learning techniques commonly employed in software development and integrate those with aspects of training in ballroom dance.
Over the past 17 years, he has continuously refined and improved the way he trains dancers. The result is an advanced method that can considerably shorten the path to mastering dance movement. Many of those techniques are encapsulated in his book, “MASTER BALLROOM DANCE TECHNIQUE.”
Robert volunteers his time at USA Dance Chapter 1010 training an enthusiastic youth team on the finer points of ballroom dancing.
