Don your Santa outfits (or Mrs. Claus, reindeer, elf outfits, etc.) and gather as a group in Downtown Elizabeth City (or anywhere across the City where Santas are wont to gather). Do a little Bar Ho-Ho-Hopping and a little retail S-Ho-Ho-Hopping or just hang out while working on your Naughty & Nice Lists. Gather as a group and take part in the annual Elizabeth City Hot Cocoa Crawl. December 7th is the ECPC Parks & Recreation Christmas Parade (5:30 pm). How fun would it be to have downtown filled with Holiday Characters all afternoon? It'll be a great opportunity to interact with our community and provide fun photo ops for kids and adults. Save the Date and order your costumes today!Official Roaming Time: 1:00-5:00 pm.
All Santas are asked to vacate the parade route before 5:30 pm (Main Street / Water Street / Road Street / Ehringhaus Street).
We'll create a "List" of our own of businesses who may want to offer specials, activities, events, or fun things for Santa and friends to do on that day.
What IS SantaCon?
"SantaCon is an annual pub crawl in which people dressed in Santa Claus costumes or as other (holiday) characters parade in hundreds of cities around the world." (Wikipedia) It has been described as "a roving, loosely organized event." It began in San Francisco in 1994 and has grown and expanded over the years.
Note: SantaCon has garnered a reputation in some cities for being a wild (disruptive!) event, but that is NOT what we are going for in Elizabeth City (got it, Santa?). We invite ONLY well-behaved Santas and holiday characters to participate and have fun (but not the kind of fun that puts you on the Naughty List). All ages may participate, but you DO have to be 21 or older to consume alcohol as always. All Alcohol Beverage Control rules and regulations and City ordinances regarding alcohol and public behavior will be in effect.
