All of us at one time or another have felt like a misfit. It might be in an unfamiliar environment or it could be in the presence of family or friends. You begin to question your own self-worth and might feel alone or unloved. This is not a comfortable or pleasant feeling. But then someone gives you a simple smile, a kind word or a warm hug and it feels like the sun is once again sharing its shine with you. Saying, I see you, you matter, and I care. Last year, our adopt a misfit toy program brought smiles to so many little faces we’d love to do it again. Lots of you have perfectly good toys that your kids/grandkids have outgrown. They are much too nice to throw away and you don't have the time for a yard sale. You know there are kids out there who would love to have them, but you just don't know where to find them. Well, we do. We will be offering misfit toys for adoption to a kind and loving home during our annual Santa in the Park event. We will be accepting donations of clean, gently used toys on November 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th and 25th between the hours of 9:30a and 2:30p. Please consider donating. Last year we were able to rehome over 150 toys. We will be in the Historical Bank Building in Old Town Waverly Park.
