Sant Jordi is one of the most beloved celebrations in Catalonia, held on April 23rd, where streets get flooded with books and roses that are exchanged to celebrate literature, love, and spring.We’d like to bring this cultural tradition by creating a space to share some readings from inspiring books, poems or quotes from female authors, followed by an open discussion. After this, we’ll design our own bookmarks— as tradition calls for — with quotes or art from the readings that have resonated with us 🌟
The event combines:
🌹Introduction to the Sant Jordi celebration. Sharing a little bit of context and history on our tradition.
📚 Readings and open discussion. Like a pop-up “book club”, with book excerpts, poems or even song lyrics that you love 💜 We’ll have some readings prepared, but we also invite you to come up and read some readings yourself if you’d like to!
🎨 A creative workshop. You’re welcome to design your own bookmarks, postcards with quotes or art. Material will be provided.
The goal is to make space to share our cultural tradition and make room for connection, expression, and joy — and to remind ourselves that literature has always been a tool for resistance and transformation.
