This weekend workshop will give you intimate familiarity with the unique points of resonance in your own palate that support Sanskrit’s sacred sounds. And you’ll be firmly grounded in the proper pronunciation of this ancient language.
Along the way you’ll learn the alphabet—itself a lovely chant—and you’ll receive the tools you need to explore your favorite sutras and chants in the beautiful script of Sanskrit; Devanāgarī.
The teaching method of this class was developed over many years by Vyaas Houston of the American Sanskrit Institute, which makes learning Sanskrit stress-free and FUN!

Yoga found Erik in the Spring of 2007. As a cancer patient, he enrolled in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, through the Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine at Thomas Jefferson Hospital. After graduating from the 8-week MBSR program, Erik continued his daily meditation practice and sought out yoga in a non-hospital environment. Erik graduated from the Yogawood 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher-Training, Linda Maguire's 30-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training, and the Trishula Yoga300-hour Yoga Teacher Training programs. Erik started practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 2009. He has taken several teacher training workshops with Manju Jois and is authorized by him to teach the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
In 2008, as part of the Yogawood 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, he took a Sanskrit Immersion weekend with a teacher from the American Sanskrit Institute (ASI). In 2012 and 2013, Erik participated in the ASI Sanskrit Level 1 Teacher Training program and was Authorized to teach Introduction to Sanskrit weekend workshops. He has taught these workshops in the United States and Canada.
Erik studies and teaches Yin, Vinyasa, & Ashtanga yoga and is registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500 and a YACEP.
