Joe Brady is a nationally acclaimed professional photographer and educator, a full-time professional photographer, author, photo workshop leader, and studio owner. One of his great joys is to see photographers in his classes have that “Ah-Hah!” moment, leading them to capture beautiful images consistently. Joe represents many industry leaders and is an X-Rite Coloratti, a Nissin FlashMaster, a Fotopro Ambassador, an author on lynda.com, and holds both Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman Degrees from the Professional Photographers of America.
Joe is the founder of Land, Sea & Sky, a company that offers image editing tutorials, U.S.-based photo workshops, and photo-centric guided tours in Western Europe and beyond.
A dynamic instructor, Joe is known for his ability to make complex topics approachable. He hosts two interactive online series—The Photography Kitchen and Deep Dive Photography Classes—through his website, joebradyphotography.com.
Great landscape photography goes beyond a pretty scene—it evokes feeling, mood, and meaning. During this weekend, Joe Brady will guide you through the techniques and mindset needed to transform your outdoor images into impactful visual stories. Learn how to control composition, light, color, and depth to create images that resonate.
You say you are not a landscape photographer, but you are. Do you take photographs of waterfalls, the mountains, flowers, fall colors, foggy mornings, the stars, sunrises, and sunsets? While wildlife may be your priority, you are taking landscapes. Joe will share some of his wildlife images.
Whether you consider yourself a landscape photographer or not, Joe will show you how to elevate any outdoor image with the power of composition, editing, and color workflow.
What will be covered?
Saturday Morning
Joe will start with a talk on composition - the most important topic for landscape photography. You will start by thinking about the finished image before you even press the shutter, being able to visualize the editing and shaping that will be needed, and more. He will discuss why thinking about a print can and should influence how much you include in the image, what shape it should be, and what the elements are that distract or lead you out of the image.
He will finish with a pair of quick image edits to show the effects of painting with light and color to guide the viewer, and so much more.
After a short break, he will move into image editing in Adobe Lightroom Classic. He will consider some basics and look into how to streamline operations. Right from the moment an image is brought into the software, there are things you can do that will help determine if a raw file is worth pursuing.
Joe’s philosophy is not to teach the tools by themselves, but to discuss with each image what can be done to make it a better photograph - the use of the tools follows.
Saturday afternoon, Joe will move into intermediate to advanced editing with Lightroom. This will include panoramic - both vertical and horizontal - color editing, advanced masking capabilities, and more, including the latest updates. You will start to consider what the things that Lightroom is not best at, and when it might be time to head into Photoshop.
Sunday Morning
On Sunday morning, he will pick up where he left off in Lightroom and begin taking images into Photoshop for the edits, adjustments, and transformations that Photoshop is best at. This will include fine color balancing, perspective transformations, removal and adjustment of elements, and the ability to make more precise selections for various edits.
He will dive into some of the neural filters, learn techniques to get the best color possible, and put layers and blending modes to use. In addition, you will see Photoshop capabilities with Generative AI tools to remove distractions, and to expand the palettes when the image would benefit, or to simply fit better into a frame. Think of this morning as “Ten Things That Every Photographer Should Know in Photoshop” - though Joe may add a few extra to his list of ten.
You will learn where it is best to stop and send an image back into Lightroom for some final finishing touches.
Sunday Afternoon
Now that you have helped Joe get all these beautiful images ready, he will go into Digital Color Workflow with both Lightroom and Photoshop. What this means is you will follow an image from capture to edit to output so that you can get consistently great prints from both your desktop printers and from your favorite labs. This will involve some hardware and software that will allow us to create and use color profiles for the best color results possible.
There is a lot to cover, but everything will be presented in a step-by-step manner. Questions and explorations into some unplanned directions always make things interesting and are always welcomed by Joe.
Whether you are just starting out or looking to level up your landscape game and processing skills, this workshop will give you practical tools and creative inspiration you can use immediately. From exposure fixes and color correction to local adjustments and sharpening, you will walk away with a clear roadmap for enhancing your images efficiently—and beautifully.
This weekend promises to be filled with insight, inspiration, and learning. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned shooter, Joe Brady will leave you with tools, techniques, and vision to take your images to the next level.
