Broadway Cinema is proud to present a powerful evening that honours African heritage through two distinct, yet connected, creative works: Haile Gerima’s iconic film Sankofa and the inspiring new children’s book Sankofa: To Go Back and Get It, written and published by Nottingham-based creative Anton Brown (@sankofa_ital).While Gerima’s Sankofa boldly confronts the horrors of slavery through the lens of Black resistance and ancestral memory, the children’s book takes a separate, uplifting path—celebrating African roots, cultural pride, and the legacy of heroes and sheroes. Designed to inspire and empower young readers, the book is a tribute to the resilience and brilliance of African heritage.
Sankofa: To Go Back and Get It will be available for purchase at the screening—a perfect opportunity to take home a meaningful resource that celebrates heritage and uplifts young minds.
