Alárìíyá brings the diverse music traditions of Nigeria to Sandy Village. Passionate about keeping true to the form Afrobeat, Alárìíyá blends high-life and jazz, to create a unique sound. Band leader Olugbade Okunade played trumpet at 15 years old and by 2000, had joined Fela Kuti’s world iconic afrobeat orchestra, EGYPT 80. For the next 14 years he toured the world. Olugbade is already a Sandy Village favourite, these days a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer who draws on afrobeat, funk, juju, fuji, highlife and gospel, all part of his unique and innovative sound. He captivates the audience wherever he plays and we are in for a super special treat with a pop-up street performance by Alárìíyá.*****
