Présenté en collaboration avec Small Scale Music et Mardi Spaghetti.Sandy Ewen est une guitariste expérimentale, artiste et architecte actuellement basée à Brooklyn, NY. L'approche d'Ewen est centrée sur les objets trouvés et les techniques de guitare étendues. Elle se produit en solo et dans le cadre de nombreuses collaborations musicales et multimédias. Elle a sorti environ deux douzaines de disques, dont un trio avec Keith Rowe et Damon Smith (Houston 2012), un quartet avec Roscoe Mitchell, Damon Smith et Weasel Walter (A Railroad Spike Forms The Voice), et un album solo sur Gilgongo Records (You Win). Ewen fait fréquemment des tournées aux États-Unis et dans certaines régions du Canada, jouant principalement des sets en solo. En 2019, elle s'est produite à Mexico, avant de faire une tournée sur la côte ouest et le centre des États-Unis en février et mars. Elle a joué au festival Electric Eclectics en Ontario et à de nombreux concerts autour de NYC. En 2018, elle s'est produite au Sant'anna Arresi Jazz Festival en Sardaigne, à l'Experimental Sound Studio Option Series à Chicago et au High Zero Festival à New York. Ewen a fait une tournée européenne en 2017, réalisant des sets en solo et en collaboration avec Steve Jansen (bandes et électronique) et Maria Chavez (platines). Pendant son séjour à Brooklyn, elle a collaboré avec une multitude de musicien.ne.s, notamment Michael Vatcher, Ravi Coltrane, Bill Nace, Sam Newsome, Stephen Gauci, Kevin Shea, Cecilia Lopez, Chris Pitsiokos, Sam Weinberg et Weasel Walter. Ses projets en cours incluent un duo avec Damon Smith, la direction d'un grand ensemble entièrement féminin, le trio Etched in the Eye, un duo avec Tom Carter appelé Spiderwebs, et le groupe de rock expérimental Weird Weeds avec Sarah Hennies et Aaron Russell. Sandy Ewen is an experimental guitarist, artist and architect currently based in Brooklyn NY. Ewen's approach to playing is centered around found objects and extended guitar techniques. She performs solo and in many diverse musical and multi-media collaborations. Ewen frequently tours the US and parts of Canada, primarily playing solo sets. In 2019, she performed in Mexico City, before touring the west coast and central US in February & March. She played the Electric Eclectics Festival in Ontario and numerous gigs around NYC. In 2018, she performed at the Sant'anna Arresi Jazz Festival in Sardinia, the Experimental Sound Studio Option Series in Chicago, and the High Zero Festival in New York. In years past, Ewen has performed alongside Roscoe Mitchell, Keith Rowe, Lydia Lunch, Pauline Oliveros and many others, and has performed and recorded with Jaap Blonk, Henry Kaiser, Joe McPhee and more. In 2014, she performed at San Francisco's 13th Annual Outsound New Music Summit, and she has made several appearances at Austin's annual No Idea Festival. Ewen enjoys making video art and digital animations and has created many video pieces to accompany her music and others'.
