This is the walk that was due to take place on 24th November 2024.Discover oasthouses, hop-gardens, orchards and a 14th-century castle on this 10.5 mile walk in the High Weald, starting from Sandhurst, which crosses the border into Sussex.
We start by crossing the busy A268, heading in a northerly direction, passing through Reynolds Farm, before meandering our way to Marsh Quarter. Crossing the Kent Ditch, we soon arrive at the moated Bodiam Castle, at approximately the halfway point of the walk. Our picnic lunch break will be taken here, there is also a cafe and the Castle Pub for drinks refuel for those who wish.
The return leg see us join the Sussex Border Path, which we follow until joining a path to the right to cut across to Bourne Farm, then Silverden before arriving back at Sandhurst.
